Phones

OK, got a cell in Prague now. If you're calling from America, I'd highly recommend not calling it without a phone card on your end. Its free for me, though, so feel free to :). Of course, anyone here go ahead and call that, you're much more likely to get a hold of me.

The number is +420-732-821-875. 420 is Czech's country code, if you need it for a calling card.

Otherwise, my Skype number still works, +1-989-785-9092.

Address

Heres my address for those interested...

Jeff Novak
Vinàrna u su. Anežky
Anežskà 3
Praha 111000
Czech Republic

That should get it here, itll probably take a week or so.

SORRY, this is the right address now, had two lines on one accidently

Got it....

Lets try this for pics from

last night. Walking around Old Town square, Wenceslas square and Republic square.

Top to botom: view from my porch, Old Town square, Franz Kafka square, back streets of Old Town, cool gate I walk through between apartment and Wenceslas square

Cab drivers aren't your friend......

...either they are ripping you off, or they are trying to run you over. Thats all they are good for.

Anyhoo, spent last night wandering around, getting down the roads from my apartment to Old Town square to Wenceslas Square, and back to Republic square and my apartment. Hopefully that prevents any more getting lost issues. Found Sarah's favorite restaurant, so she can be mad at me now :)

I never thought I'd say this, but I am getting sick of beer. It is a great drink, but its the only cheap drink. Coke often costs twice as much. Coffee is not coffee, order a coffee and most likely you'll end up with an espresso. McDonalds still has a dollar menu, so I'm happy (actually here, its a 20kc menu, which is just over a dollar). You also get a bottled water and a drink with your value meals there.

Gluhwein is not too good, that is something I can cross off my list of drinks to try.

First day of classes went good. Learned a little Czech alphabet, and what the goofy symbols mean. R's are horrible, normal r's are rolled, which I can't do and ř's have a g/j sound to them, kinda like juh. Oh, and Novak like we pronounce it should really be Novàk.

The picture is from Wenceslas Square. More of my pics can (maybe) be found here: http://mtu.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2042187&id=6603926 and http://mtu.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2042125&id=6603926. Dunno if that works for non-facebook people or not, so let me know if it doesn't.

I'm here

Well, I made it. Thats pretty much it. Apt isn't bad, but I gotta share a room, and the stove is a hotplate. No cable either, and internet won't come till later. Managed to get lost last night, ended up so far away that I had to take a 15 minute cab ride back to the Old Town Square by my apartment.

Oh, I also found out that Novak is the most commone last name in the Czech, and my road name, Anezska, is the Czech name for Agnes, so I'm living on Grandma's road.

Anyways, heres a pic from around my apartment.

Hi

Well, this is where you all can see my trip in pictures. Or, maybe I am just thinking I am way more important that I am, and you all want to really not hear from me. At least you can ignore me this way.

Anyhoo, I got nothing now. I'm all set to go, visa came yesterday. Hopefully I don't end up paying out the ass for housing, which it is starting to look like. Wish I could just get the housing price in Czech kronuys, instead of approximated US dollars, as that way the price would quit jumping around on me.

Because of this, it appears that I will now be in apartments, as they are (again, approximately) $200 less a month than the dorms. Oh well, at least I am downtown this way.

Anyway, thats all for now, except for one last thing, the most important of the week. I'm in love with Sarah, and am glad that we are finally together!
